Educated at Sholing Secondary School for Girls; married David Woollett, an engineer; they have three children and six grandchildren. She has been a full-time housewife and mother, a volunteer ward assistant in a large city hospital, and a mature student for a GCSE in Drama, as well as being active in a local amateur dramatic group. She is a member of the Jubilate Group. She has written several hymn texts, Psalm versions and other verses. Publications featuring her work include Church Family Worship (1988); Come, Rejoice (1989); Songs from the Psalms (1990); Psalms for Today (1990) which has four of her paraphrases; "Let's Praise" 2 (1994); "Sing Glory" (1999); and "Praise!" (2000). Appearing in several books are her versions of Psalm 13, "How long, O Lord, will your forget an answer to my prayer"; and Psalm 84, "How lovely is your dwelling-place, O Lord most high". Jean Strathdee

Hymnal Number: 2168 Author of "Love the Lord Your God" in Sing the Faith Jean and Jim Strathdee have a special gift for encouraging folks to sing with them. Much of the music they write and perform is designed for congregational singing. They also love to work with local singers to create a choir for their events. Their music spans a diversity of sound and style and includes use of guitar, piano, mandolin, harmonica, African drums and Native American flute. They see their music as an agent of personal and social transformation and are involved with fund- and consciousness-raising events where ecumenical and inter-faith communities come together to make a stand for positive change. Jim and Jean have served on the staff of United Methodist churches in southern and northern California and Hawaii and are currently co-directors of music at Rancho Cordova UMC near Sacramento. b. 1952 Hymnal Number: 2201 Composer of "[Prayers of the People]" in Sing the Faith Bonnie Johansen-Werner is a composer, performer, and teacher residing in Joliet, Illinois. She is organist at First United Methodist Church in Lockport, Illinois, on the music faculty at the University of St. Francis teaching music theory and composition, and manages her own private studio in Joliet. She also serves as Diaconal Minister of Music associated with Grace United Methodist Church (Naperville) in the ministry of organ and composition. Her music has been performed in the United States, Canada, Russia, and Europe. Bonnie’s music combines techniques from ancient sources with contemporary rhythms, shifting tonalities, and vibrant melodies. Mysticism and spirituality play an important role in her music, with a focus on the presence of the holy in all of life. Themes for her music range from hope and expectancy to pointed encounters with death, AIDS, and drought. Ms. Johansen-Werner holds music degrees from Augustana College and Concordia University with theological study at Garrett Theological Seminary, the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, and Methesco. b. 1942 Hymnal Number: 2225 Composer of "KINDDRED" in Sing the Faith JACK SCHRADER (b. 1942), arranger, composer, conductor, vocalist, and organist/pianist, is past editor with Hope Publishing Company, retiring in January of 2009. His association with Hope began in 1978. A 1964 graduate of Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, where he majored in Voice and Organ, he also received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Nebraska (1966). Further studies in theology culminated in Jack's ordination by the Evangelical Free Church of America (1975). Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he now resides in Wheaton, Illinois, with his wife, Karen. They have three children, Beth, Jonathan and Joel, and currently three grandchildren. Jack is the best selling choral composer in the Hope catalog. In addition to choral music Jack has published collections for keyboardists, instrumentalists and vocal soloists. He was a member of the editorial committee for Hope's most recent hymnal, WORSHIP & REJOICE (2001), in which he has 24 hymn credits.
