Lived a lad would see the Master

Author: T. C. H. Clare Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: John 6:1-11 Lyrics: LIVED a lad would see the Master,   Who taught across the Lake, And for his lunch a basket   Of bread and fish did take. Five little rolls of barley,   A perch or two or three, And over marsh and moorland   To Jesus' side went he. In the presence of the Saviour    Upon the sunny ground, Hiding the grassy hillside,    Thousands of folk he found : They sat all still and silent    The words of Life to hear : On tip-toe, scarcely breathing,    The little boy drew near. Then the voice of heavenly wisdom   With awe-sgtruck ear he heard : The shadows slowly lengthened :   There came another word : ‘How shall we feed these thousands?   What, Philip, do you say? They must be tired and hungry,   And home is far away.’ ‘Here's a lad has got some biscuits,   A little fish or two : ’Tis naught among so many.’   ‘Yet, Andrew, they will do.’ How joyfully he gave them :   The wondrous meal began. Happy lad, whose picnic basket   Was giv'n to Jesus' need, Whose loving power and bounty   A multitude did feed! Lo, I am here, my Saviour,   And oh! I would be Thine : Take me, and bless and use me   To work Thy will divine.    Amen.
