Hark, the voice of Jesus crying

Author: Rev. Daniel March Hymnal: HAGA1895 #361 (1895) Lyrics: 1 Hark! the voice of Jesus crying, "Who will go and work today? Fields are white and harvests waiting; Who will bear the sheave away?" Loud and long the Master calleth; Rich reward He offers free; Who will answer, gladly saying, "Here am I; send me, send me"? 2 If you cannot cross the ocean, And the heathen lands explore, You can find the heathen nearer, You can help them at your door. If you cannot give your thousands, You can give the widow's mite; And the least you give for Jesus Will be precious in His sight. 3 If you cannot speak like angels, If you cannot preach like Paul, You can tell the love of Jesus, You can say He died for all. If you cannot rouse the wicked With the judgment's dread alarms, You can lead the little children To the Saviour's waiting arms. 4 Let none hear you idly saying, "There is nothing I can do," While the souls of men are dying, And the Master calls for you: Take the task He gives you gladly; Let His work your pleasure be; Answer quickly when He calleth, "Here am I; send me, send me!" Amen.

Soldiers, who to Christ belong

Author: Isaac Williams; Anonymous Hymnal: HAGA1895 #362 (1895) Lyrics: 1 Soldiers who to Christ belong, Trust ye in His word, be strong; For His promises are sure, His rewards for aye endure. 2 His no crowns that pass away, His no palm that sees decay, His the joy that shall not fade, His the light that knows no shade; 3 His the home for spirits blest, Where He gives them peaceful rest, Far above the starry skies, In the bliss of Paradise. 4 Here on earth ye can but clasp Things that perish in the grasp; Lift your hearts, then, to the skies; God Himself shall be your prize. 5 Praise we now with saints at rest Father, Son, and Spirit blest; For His promises are sure, His rewards shall aye endure.

Dear Lord and Master mine

Author: Thomas H. Gill Hymnal: HAGA1895 #363 (1895) Lyrics: 1 Dear Lord and Master mine, Thy happy servant see; My Conqueror, with what joy Divine, Thy captive clings to Thee. 2 I love Thy yoke to wear, To feel Thy gracious bands; Sweetly restrainèd by Thy care, And happy in Thy hands. 3 No bar would I remove, No bond would I unbind; Within the limits of Thy love Full liberty I find. 4 I would not walk alone, But still with Thee, my God; At every step my blindness own, And ask of Thee the road. 5 The weakness I enjoy That casts me on Thy breast; The conflicts that Thy strength employ Make me Divinely blest. 6 Dear Lord and Master mine, Still keep Thy servant true; My Guardian and my Guide Divine, Bring, bring Thy pilgrim through. 7 My Conqueror and my King, Still keep me in Thy train; And with Thee Thy dear captive bring When Thou return'st to reign. Amen.

Revive Thy work, O Lord

Author: Albert Midlane Hymnal: HAGA1895 #365 (1895) Lyrics: 1 Revive Thy work, O Lord, Thy mighty arm make bare; Speak with the voice that wakes the dead And make Thy people hear. 2 Revive Thy work, O Lord, Disturb this sleep of death; Quicken the smouldering embers now By Thine almighty breath. 3 Revive Thy work, O Lord, Create soul-thirst for Thee; And hungering for the Bread of Life, O may our spirits be. 4 Revive Thy work, O Lord, Exalt Thy precious Name; And, by the Holy Ghost, our love For Thee and Thine inflame. 5 Revive Thy work, O Lord, Give pentecostal showers; The glory shall be all Thine own, The blessing, Lord, be ours. Amen.

Must Jesus bear the cross alone

Author: Rev. Thomas Shepherd; Anonymous; Rev. Charles Beecher Hymnal: HAGA1895 #366 (1895) Lyrics: 1 Must Jesus bear the cross alone, And all the world go free? No, there's a cross for everyone, And there's a cross for me. 2 How happy are the saints above, Who once went sorrowing here; But now they taste unmingled love, And joy without a tear. 3 The consecrated cross I'll bear Till death shall set me free; And then go home my crown to wear, For there's a crown for me. 4 Upon the crystal pavement, down At Jesus' piercèd feet, Joyful, I'll cast my golden crown, And His dear Name repeat. 5 O precious cross! O glorious crown! O resurrection day! Ye angels, from the stars flash down, And bear my soul away. Amen.

How blessed, from the bonds of sin

Author: Jane L. Borthwick; Carl J. P. Spitta Hymnal: HAGA1895 #367 (1895) Lyrics: 1 How blessed, from the bonds of sin, And earthly fetters free, In singleness of heart and aim, Thy servant, Lord, to be; The hardest toil to undertake With joy at Thy command, The meanest office to receive With meekness at Thy hand; 2 With willing heart and longing eyes To watch before Thy gate, Ready to run the weary race, To bear the heavy weight; No voice of thunder to expect, But follow calm and still; For love can easily divine The One Belovèd's will. 3 Thus may I serve Thee, gracious Lord; Thus ever Thine alone, My soul and body given to Thee, The purchase Thou hast won; Through evil or through good report Still keeping at Thy side; And by my life or by my death Let Christ be magnified. 4 How happily the working days In this dear service fly, How rapidly the closing hour, The time of rest, draws night, When all the faithful gather home, A joyful company; And ever where the Master is Shall His blest servants be. Amen.

On our way rejoicing

Author: John S. B. Monsell Hymnal: HAGA1895 #368 (1895) Lyrics: 1 On our way rejoicing, As we homeward move, Hearken to our praises, O Thou God of love. Is there grief or sadness? Thou our Joy shalt be; Is our sky beclouded? There is light in Thee! I2 f with honest-hearted Love for God and man, Day by day Thou find us Doing what we can, Thou who giv'st the seed-time Wilt give large increase, Crown the head with blessings, Fill the heart with peace. 3 On our way rejoicing Gladly let us go; Victor is our Leader, Vanquished is our foe: Christ without, our safety; Christ within, our joy; Who, if we be faithful, Can our hope destroy? 4 Unto God the Father Joyful songs we sing; Unto God the Saviour Thankful hearts we bring; Unto God the Spirit Bow we and adore, On our way rejoicing Ever, evermore. Amen. Tune Title: COLYTON

O Jesus, I have promised

Author: Rev. John E. Bode Hymnal: HAGA1895 #369 (1895) Lyrics: 1 O Jesus, I have promised To serve Thee to the end; Be Thou for ever near me, My Master and my Friend: I shall not fear the battle If Thou art by my side, Nor wander from the pathway If Thou wilt be my guide. 2 O let me feel Thee near me, The world is ever near; I see the sights that dazzle, The tempting sounds I hear: My foes are ever near me, Around me and within; But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer, And shield my soul from sin. 3 O let me hear Thee speaking In accents clear and still, Above the storms of passion, The murmurs of self-will: O speak to re-assure me, To hasten or control; O speak, and make me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul. 4 O Jesus, Thou hast promised To all who follow Thee That where Thou art in glory There shall Thy servant be; And, Jesus, I have promised To serve Thee to the end; O give me grace to follow, My Master and my Friend. Amen.

Onward, Christian soldiers

Author: Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould Hymnal: HAGA1895 #370 (1895) Lyrics: 1 Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before: Christ, the Royal Master Leads against the foe; Forward into battle, See, His banners go. Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before. 2 At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee; On then, Christian soldiers, On to victory: Hell's foundations quiver At the shout of praise; Brothers, lift your voices, Loud your anthems raise. Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before. 3 Like a mighty army Moves the Church of God; Brothers, we are treading Where the saints have trod; We are not divided, All one body we, One in hope and doctrine, One in charity. Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before. 4 Crowns and thrones may perish, Kingdoms rise and wane, But the Church of Jesus Constant will remain; Gates of hell can never 'Gainst that Church prevail; We have Christ's own promise, And that cannot fail. Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before. 5 Onward, then, ye people, Join our happy throng, Blend with ours your voices In the triumph-song; Glory, laud, and honor, Unto Christ the King; This through countless ages Men and angels sing. Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before. Amen. Languages: English
