Fulness in Christ

Author: James Relly Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 4 hymnals Scripture: Colossians 2:9 First Line: All fulness in the Lamb we view Lyrics: 1 All fulness in the Lamb we view; To look beside him, loss: He's only holy, just and true; All else is dung and dross. 2 There dwells in him, as stain'd with blood, Jehovah's pow'r and n ame; Greatly, from everlasting, God, Yea, when the slaughter'd Lamb. 3 In him we know the holy bride All gather'd into one; She looks out thro' his bleeding side, With all her beauties on. 4 In him we see God's heav'n, our earth, In perfect peace agree: This gives our one new man, its birth, And sets our nature free. 5 His purg'd humanity is our's, And in it now we prove A seat above the heav'nly pow'rs, Fix'd in the Father's love. 6 New heav'ns, new earth, we now possess; Beulah, that blessed field, Where dwells eternal righteousness; And God's our sun, and shield. 7 Here's nothing hurtful to destroy; The holy mountain's here; No curse, nor sin, for to annoy, No torment, guilt, or fear. 8 Of Jesus we will never cease To sing, as we began; In whom there dwells, in perfect peace, God, and his darling man. Refrain: In the shadow of the cross I will rest, For with everlasting peace I am blest; Here I dwell in love unknown, Streaming down from heaven’s throne, In the shadow of the cross I will rest. 2 In the shadow of the cross, blessed place! Living only for the Lord, by His grace; What He says I’ll gladly do, Ever standing firm and true, In the shadow of the cross, blessed place! [Refrain] 3 In the shadow of the cross, safe retreat, Ever sitting lowly at Jesus’ feet; While His presence is so near I shall never, never fear, In the shadow of the cross, safe retreat. He Stood before the Court

Author: Christopher M. Idle, b. 1938 Meter: 6.6.6.6.8.8 Appears in 3 hymnals Scripture: Colossians 2:12-14 Lyrics: 1 He stood before the court on trial instead of us; he met its pow'r to hurt, condemned to face the cross - our King, accused of treachery; our God, abused for blasphemy! 2 These are the crimes that tell the tale of human guilt; our sins, our death, our hell - on these the case is built. To this world's pow'rs the Lord stays dumb. The guilt is ours, no answers come. 3 The sentence must be passed, the unknown pris'ner killed; the price is paid at last, the law of God fulfilled. He takes our blame, and from that day th'accuser's claim is wiped away. 4 Shall we be judged and tried? In Christ our trial is done; we live, for he has died, our condemnation gone. In Christ are we both dead and raised, alive and free — his name be praised! Topics: Lent Used With Tune: MARLEE
