I heard the voice of Jesus say

Author: Horatius Bonar, 1808-1889 Hymnal: The Book of Praise #671 (1997) Lyrics: 1 I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto me and rest; lay down, thou weary one, lay down thy head upon my breast!” I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad; I found in him a resting place, and he has made me glad. 2 I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give the living water; thirsty one, stoop down, and drink and live!” I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived and now I live in him. 3 I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world's light; look unto me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright.” I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun, and in that light of life I’ll walk till traveling days are done. No Tramp of Soldiers' Marching Feet

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith, b. 1926 Hymnal: Worship Supplement 2000 #725 (2007) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 No tramp of soldiers’ marching feet With banners and with drums, No sound of music’s martial beat-- “The King of glory comes!” To greet what pomp of kingly pride No bells in triumph ring, No city gates swing open wide: “Behold, behold your King!” 2 And yet he comes. The children cheer; With palms His path is strown. With ev’ry step the cross draws near-- The King of glory’s throne. Astride a colt He passes by As loud hosannas ring, Or else the very stones would cry, “Behold, behold Your King!” 3 What fading flow’rs His road adorn; The palms, how soon laid down! No bloom or leaf but only thorn The King of glory’s crown. The soldiers mock, the rabble cries, The streets with tumult ring, As Pilate to the mob replies, “Behold, behold Your King!” 4 Now He who bore for mortals’ sake The cross and all its pains And chose a servant’s form to take, The King of glory reigns. Hosanna to the Savior’s name Till heaven’s rafters ring, And all the ransomed host proclaim, “Behold, behold your King!” Topics: Palm Sunday Languages: English Tune Title: KINGSFOLD

Come, Let Us Use the Grace Divine

Author: Charles Wesley Hymnal: The Cyber Hymnal #1039 Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1. Come, let us use the grace divine, and all with one accord, In a perpetual covenant join ourselves to Christ the Lord; Give up ourselves, through Jesus’ power, His name to glorify; And promise, in this sacred hour, for God to live and die. 2. The covenant we this moment make be ever kept in mind; We will no more our God forsake, or cast these words behind. We never will throw off the fear of God who hears our vow; And if Thou art well pleased to hear, come down and meet us now. 3. Thee, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, let all our hearts receive, Present with Thy celestial host the peaceful answer give; To each covenant the blood apply which takes our sins away, And register our names on high and keep us to that day! Deep in the Shadows of the Past

Author: Brian Wren Hymnal: The Faith We Sing #2246 (2001) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 Deep in the shadows of the past, far out from settled lands, some nomads traveled with their God across the desert sands. The dawning hope of humankind by them was sensed and shown; a promise calling them ahead, a future yet unknown. 2 While others bowed to changeless gods they met a mystery, invisible, without a name: "I AM WHAT I WILL BE"; and by their tents, around their fires, in story, song and law, they praised, remembered, handed on a past that promised more. 3 From Exodus to Pentecost the promise changed and grew, while some, remembering the past, recorded what they knew, or with their letters and laments, their prophecy and praise recovered, kindled and expressed new hope for changing days. 4 For all the writings that survived, for leaders, long ago, who sifted, copied and preserved the Bible that we know, give thanks, and find its story yet our promise, strength and call, the model of emerging faith, alive with hope for all.
