Alicia Ann Spottiswoode was the maiden name of Alicia Scott, the wife of Lord John Douglas Scott. She was an amateur composer, best known for the tune, commonly called ANNIE LAURIE, to which the poem by William Douglas beginning "Maxwelton's braes are bonnie" is sung.
