The hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.com database has a couple of references to a translation of Puer natus in Bethlehem by W. J. Blew, the most detailed reading

Other translations are :—

1. A Babe in Bethlehem is born. W. J. Blew. 1852-55. See: A Babe In Bethlehem Is Born - Translator Unknown. (https://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.com/Hymns_and_Carols/a_babe_in_bethlehem_is_born.htm)

A number of Blew's works, largely translations from the Latin, are in the Hymnary database, but not this one. (In spite of the "Translator Unknown" note, I'm pretty sure this would be a translation by Blew, unless it turns out he published a collection somewhere in the range of 1852-55 including other people's translations from the Latin. But no "Hymnals" are listed for him here. The other mention of Blew in this connection refers to an anonymous translation in the 1862 Hawaiian hymnal as possibly his work.

Dpes anyone have any further information on this carol version?
