Search for number of publication instances?

You are here

Is there a method that can search songs/texts by the number of publication instances Hymnary has calculated?
For example, Fanny Crosby wrote thousands of texts and many have been accumulated on Hymnary.
If I wanted a list of her texts that had only been published once or twice, how would such a query be entered?

When you look at a person's page you should see a column "Instances" with a number. This is the number of times a person's name appears connected to a text - usually one time on the top of the text page (authority page) and the rest would be the number of instances, so 2 in the instances would most likely indicate that the person's name appears on the text page, and in one hymnal instance. If you want 1-2 instances, you would look for hymns with 1-3 instances. The Instances column will sort by number if you click on it. Fanny Crosby has a lot of 1's because she has a lot of pseudonyms - Fanny Crosby is the author on the text page, but there is a pseudonymn in the instance.

Thanks, Dianne.
I didn't form my question correctly.
I was "hoping" for a way to say "show me a list of texts by author-whatever that have 1 or 2 instances".
It's not a big deal.  Hymnary.org is a fabulous resource.

There is another way. You can search for the texts of a person, then (using the old search page) turn on the columns for Total Instances and Matching Instances. The Total Instances are the number of publication instances. The Matching Instances are the number of times the author matches the person's name. Using the old search page, you can click on the column Total Instances to sort, then go to the last page to find the 1's and 2's. Using the new search page you can sort by Matching Instances and the search card will also tell you the number of hymnals. The Ascending sort was not working when I tried it (but it may get fixed soon) so you may need to go to the last page again to find the 1's and 2's. But you want to see both the number of hymnals and the Matchng Instances because some hymnals may have misattributed the text.

I will definitely give that a shot!  Many thanks.
