I'm new to Hymnary and it looks like a great site. Thanks to everyone for all the hard work.
However, as I became familiar with the site, I was confused by all the deceptive advertising designed to look like a part of your interface. Please take a more careful look at who you allow to advertise on your site. Some have faked buttons to listen to music, others create fake links to download or display the hymns. This is very frustrating, especially to new members.

Advertising is an important part of the revenue that keeps the site running. We are using a Google advertising system that allows Google to place ads anywhere on pages. We could just use sidebar ads, but that results in less revenue for running the site (which is non-profit). We'll have to keep an eye on whether it is too disruptive or deceptive.
