Spelling inconsistency in "Jesus Christ, My Sure Defence"

The word defense can apparently also be spelled defence.
It is, however, a problem in the search function.
The hymn "Jesus Christ, My Sure Defence", translated by Catherine Winkworth, lists as the first line of the hymn "Jesus Christ, my sure defense . ."
Search of Title "Jesus Christ, My Sure Defense" does not link to the hymn.

I tried the search with both "defense" and "defence" and they both worked for me. Any variant spelling or wording of the first line listed in the instances should result in the same text summary.

I did change the spelling of the first line and title in this summary from "defence" to "defense" Most likely, the first instance of this hymn in our database had the older spelling. The text summary first line and tile is formed out of the first occurrence of the hymn.

This spelling/search inconsistency covers quite a few words. Some of them are because of old and new spelling (e.g. Saviour vs. Savior), some related to American/English language spelling (e.g. color vs. colour), and some words that are shortened (e.g. ev'ry, thro').

The way around this issue, as Dianne showed in the example, is to put the exact title spelling in the instances (as should be for everything in the instances), but then modifying the title in the authority itself to indicate the recent and full spelling.

For example:
The hymn: Christ Every Day
the title of the instance is "Ev’ry day my blessed Saviour"
But the title of the main text authority is "Every day my blessed Savior"

In this case search will find the titles, using whichever spelling, as long as it is correct or used in an instance. The search for instances will result in instances having only that specific spelling.
