I'm in BYU Singers, one of the top collegiate choirs in the US (here are some recordings we've done this year):
O Sapientia - Bob Chilcott
Lord, I Would Follow Thee - K. Newell Dayley
The BYU Singers Alumni are planning a fundraiser (in which I am heavily involved), involving past and current members of the choir. As part of this fundrasing, we intend to produce an non-denominational anthology of hymns and simple hymn arrangements. The primary goal is to produce a large collection of vocally beautiful and spiritually expressive recordings. I anticipate we will end up recording between 200 and 500 hymns and hymn arrangements.
Once complete, we intend to publish the Anthology in the following forms:
* digital download (free, CC license)
* CD Volumes
* Sheet music volumes (Spiral bound, with a watermark on copyrighted works, as well as instructions on how to purchase legal copies).
We would like to have an easily accessible online version of the anthology, as well. I expect this would include a directory of songs arranged by volume, an alphabetical index of the songs, as well as either the sheet music or a link to where the sheet music may be purchased.
We discussed the possibility of making our own site, but I feel that this would best be done in partnership with another organization with a strong online presence.
Is Hymnary.org interested in collaborating with online publishing? Is there another organization that would be a better fit?
Thanks,
David
