ELLESDIE ... so who was Christy?

The tune authority for ELLESDIE showed the title «" What things were gain to Die, those I counted loss for Christy». Out of pure speculation I edited it to read «"What things were gain to Die, those I counted loss for Christ"». The meter also showed «[8s. 7s. Double.» and I changed that to «8.7.8.7.8.7.8.7.». I do wonder whether that title was really a title in the original publication, or whether it would more reasonably be treated as a scriptural quotation prefatory to the hymn.
