McE. vs. M. - style pref.?

I want to merge E. M. Shields, Elizabeth M. Shields, and Elizabeth McE. Shields into a single Person, but I don't know whether, in the case of a middle name beginning with prefixed Mc followed by a capital letter, but otherwise unknown, it is preferable to use M. or McE.

I merged these records. The name should appear as it does in the Library of Congress Name Authority headings, if it is there (http://authorities.loc.gov). In this case it is, and it appears as "Shields, Elizabeth McEwen, b. 1879." Since, none of our entries looked like this, I merged them together then edited the final entry so the "Short name" appears as "Elizabeth McEwen Shields" and the "Long name" appears as it is in LOC. Then I changed the authority id to "Shields_Elizabeth."

If the name does not appear in LOC, then use the most common usage of the name.

I'll catch on.
