The new (next year) Presbyterian hymnal is not going to romanize most texts in non-Latin alphabets or other writing systems. The first hymn will be "Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!" with four stanzas in English, four in Spanish ("¡Santo! ¡Santo! ¡Santo! Señor omnipotente"), and four in Korean ("거룩거룩거룩전능하신주여" if I have succeeded in my first attempt to type in Korean). Should I enter it this way on the spreadsheet (I'm doing a practice job of the "Sampler" I received from them last week), and if not, how should I enter it. I'm assuming each language gets its own row on the spreadsheet.

Comments

That's the title of the sampler I'm indexing.

Each language does not get a separate row on the spreadsheet unless each language version is numbered separately. If the hymn is in two languages, the second language goes behind the first line in parentheses; you could also add a third behind in parentheses. But if the hymn is in 3 or more languages, this may get unwieldy. In that case, include all the languages in the text language section. If the translations are not copyrighted they can be put in the full text section. Hymnary should be able to handle Korean characters.
