We ask for donations here just twice a year. Before you hit the "close" button, would you please consider a gift to keep Hymnary.org going? Even small amounts help, and they also let us know you're behind us and support what we do. Last year, Hymnary had 11.3 million users from 243 countries around the globe, people like you who love hymns! To serve our many, many users well takes money, and we have limited sources of revenue. This fund drive is one such source. You can make your tax-deductible contribution by sending a check to Hymnary.org at 3201 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, or you can click the Donate button below. Scored for Trumpet, Organ

This elegantly crafted suite of five movements begins with the musical leitmotiv, "Taps" (Day Is Done). This evocative tune is first paired with the evening hymns Ar Hyd y Nos, Merrial, Tallis' Canon and Eventide (betraying its original use).

It is then woven through tone poems, which reveal the official hymns of all branches of the Armed Forces, and such patriotic favorites as Materna, America, The Star-Spangled Banner/National Anthem, and Battle Hymn of the Republic.

The heroic final movement is composed of the Easter tunes Easter Hymn/Worgan/Lyra Davidica, Duke Street, and Victory/Palestrina, and then concludes with a haunting re-statement of the leitmotiv. Parts for opt. Trumpet included.
