Tune CULMSTOCK

"Hail to the Lord's Anointed" was apparently entitled "Imitation of the 72d psalm (Tune: Culmstock)" at its first (1822) publication. There's no CULMSTOCK in the database. Does anybody know anything about this tune? As a Northern Baptist, I'm accustomed to singing it to SHEFFIELD (i.e. BRITISH GRENADIERS), and there are several tunes more frequently found, including the ecumenical default choice ES FLOG, but I have yet to see CULMSTOCK, and where known I like to know and try the tunes texts were originally intended to wed.

Comments

Here is a page scan of the original publication. Sadly, it doesn't add to our knowledge of the tune. If indeed it is a tune name, and not merely a tune's provenance.

Listed in the Hymn Tune Index as being by Thomas Walker, an associate of Rippon. See also the page here on K. Walker helped to edit Rippon's tune book and contributed several tunes.

I see from WorldCat that the University of Washington has Rippon 1792 in microform, so maybe I'll be able to get them to print out that page for me.
