5a. In Domino confido

1 I trust in God, how dare ye then
say thus my soule untill?
Flie hence as fast as any fowle,
and bide you in your hill.
2 Behold the wicked bend their bowes,
and make their arrowes prest,
To shoot in secret, and to hurt
the sound and harmlesse brest.

3 Of worldly hope all staies were shrunk,
and clearely brought to nought:
Alas the just and righteous men,
what evill hath he wrought?
4 But he that in his Temple is,
most holy and most high,
And in he heavens hath his seat
of royall majesty.

The poore and siple mans estate,
considereth in his mind:
And searcheth out full narrowly
the manners of mankind:
5 And with a chearfull countenance
the righteous man will use:
But in his heart he doth abhorre
all such as mischief muse.

6 And on the sinners casteth snares,
as thick as any raine:
Fire and brimstone, and whirle-winds thick,
appointed for their paine.
7 Ye see then how a righteous God
doth righteousensse embrace:
And to the just and upright men
shewes forth his pleasant face.
