48. Whom, Having Not Seen, Ye Love

1 Savior, my feet have never trod with thine,
The solitary place,
My eyes have never seen in human form,
Thy manifested grace;
My hands have never touched thy garment’s hem,
With faith’s unuttered plea;
Nor hast thou tarried when the day was spent,
And broken bread with me.

Refrain:
Whom, having not seen, yet I love,
Whom, having not seen, yet I love,
‘Tis my Savior so dear, is guiding me here,
Whom having not seen, yet I love.

2 But, Lord, my rescued feet are steadfast set
Upon the King’s highway;
And though, as yet, I may not see thy face,
I follow on each day.
My waiting eyes are unto thee, dear Lord,
In whom I live and move;
Whose love, believed in, is the fullest joy
That earth or heav’n can prove. [Refrain]

3 I know that thou art gone to beatify
A place in heav’n for me;
And when thou com’st to take thy children home,
I shall be like to thee.
Then shall I wake and see thee, eye to eye,
Whom now, unseen, I love;
Faith’s darkly visioned glass exchanged at last,
For rapturous sight above. [Refrain]
