24. The Country to Which I am Going

1 I am now on the way to my homeland,
And sometimes there are trials to bear,
But the country to which I am going
Will be free from all sorrow and care.

Refrain:
Oh, the country to which I am going
Is more fair than can ever be told;
But, redeemed thro’ the mercy of Jesus,
All its wonders I soon shall behold.

2 In that land is found nothing unholy,
And there falleth no shadows of night;
Ev’ry scene glows with radiant brightness,
For the face of the Lord is its light. [Refrain]

3 On the banks of the beautiful river,
Where the ransomed for ages have trod,
I shall walk in the gladness and freedom
Of the glorious country of God. [Refrain]
