1 Raise the blessed cross of Jesus,
Lift it up with joyful song,
Let us follow in the footsteps,
Where the true and faithful throng.
Thro’ the clouds that gather round us
Shining forth with cheering ray,
Leading on and up forever,
To the land of endless day.

Shouting, singing, praises ringing,
Lift the cross, the cross we love,
Thro’ the darkness brightly gleaming,
With a light from heav’n above.

2 Raise the blessed cross of Jesus,
Tell the story glad and sweet,—
“Full atonement thro’ the Savior!”
Unto all with joy repeat.
Bear the precious emblem forward
To the hopeless ones, and lost,
They must shine as stars forever,
Souls redeemed at such a cost. [Chorus]

3 Raise the blessed cross of Jesus,
Let its glory gleam around,
O’er the kingdoms still in darkness,
Where the Christ is never found,
Till unnumbered tongues shall praise him,
Sound his mighty pow’r abroad,
Gather round the cross rejoicing,
