148. As Far as the East

1 O the length and breadth and the depth of God’s love!
How it filleth my soul with delight!
In the land of forgetfulness far, far away,
He hath hidden our sins from his sight.

Refrain:
As far as east is from west,
Far as the east is from the west,
So far, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

2 In the love of His mercy He saith His word,
That our sins are remembered no more;
He hath cast them behind Him and blotted them out,
And completly hath covered them o’er. [Refrain]

3 In the light of the cross upon Calvary’s brow,
“He is faithful and just to forgive.”
He will cleanse from unrighteousness all who repent,
He will help us the Christ-life to live. [Refrain]

4 Will you come to the Father, O grief laden soul,
With your burden of sin so distrest?
For where sin hath abounded His grace doth abound,
will you come unto Him and find rest? [Refrain]
