Text: | The Love of the Father |
Author: | Colin Sterne |
Tune: | [We sing of a story the Master told] |
Composer: | H. Ernest Nichol |
1 We sing of a story the Master told
Of God's great love,
A love that can never grow faint or cold,
Where'er we rove;
A love that waits to welcome us
When from our sins we turn,
Whose depth and height are infinite,
Whose fulness none can learn.
Chorus:
Then arise and come to the Father!
He will meet you on the way;
All the lost to His arms He will gather
In His home of eternal day;
For the bells of the city of God shall ring,
And the choirs of heav'n shall sing,
'Let joy abound, let songs resound,
For the lov'd and lost is found.'
2 O all who have wander'd away and fed
On husks of sin;
O ye who are faint for the Living Bread,
And sad within;
Whose thoughts are turning longingly
Towards the Father's home,
No longer stay, make no delay,
For Jesus bids you come. [Chorus]
3 That house of the Father is full of light,
Our home above,
There waits you a robe of immortal white,
A ring of love.
O Father grant us all Thy grace
To leave our sin behind,
To enter straight the narrow gate,
And seek Thee till we find. [Chorus]
