127. The Lord will Bid us Welcome

1 Oft our feet grow worn and weary
From the daily march of life,
Though it leads us to the world so bright and fair;
Bust a rest so sure and peaceful
Waits us when we end the strife,
For the Lord will bid us welcome over there.

Refrain:
Over there, yes, over there,
We shall rest from all our labor, and the heart will know no care,
Over there, yes, over there,
For the Lord will bid us welcome over there.

2 Oft the heart is filled with sorrow
That it almost weighs it down,
For it feels the weight of all this earthly care;
But ’twill soon be light and joyful,
As our race will not be long,
And the Lord will bid us welcome over there. [Refrain]

3 When our friends pass on before us
To that bright celestial home,
Then our hearts are torn with grief, so hard to bear;
But we, too, are on the journey,
And we soon shall cease to roam,
For the Lord will bid us welcome over there. [Refrain]
