Notes: Note in the first measure that the D-natural in the melody is sung against the D-sharp in the chord. If a solo voice sings this line first, the congregation will easily pick up on this “blue” note. At each return of the refrain, singers and percussionists should crescendo into the word “glory.” The chanted verses may be accompanied simply by soft arpeggiated chords played on keyboard or guitar with improvised percussion played on djembe and shakers. The text should move ahead in a natural way, without dragging. A cantor or an ensemble may sing these verses with the congregation joining on the refrain. With leadership, the entire congregation should be able to sing the chant.
