206. When I Felt His Gentle Touch of Love

1 I was weary and discouraged with my weight of woe,
But my sins once red as crimson now are white as snow;
I was lifted to the blessed Rock that cannot move,
When I felt His gentle touch of love.

Refrain:
When I felt His gentle touch of love,
When I felt His gentle touch of love;
All my grief and all my sadness were transformed at once to gladness
When I felt His gentle touch of love.

2 When I stumble He restores my fainting soul again,
And he gives me strength for weakness, solace for my pain;
Now His blessings in abundance shower from above,
Since I felt His gentle touch of love. [Refrain]

3 Now the day can ne’er be dreary nor can shadows fall,
For He cheers me when I’m weary, answers when I call;
I am happy ev’ry moment for His grace I prove,
Since I felt His gentle touch of love. [Refrain]

4 From this faithful Friend and Saviour I will never roam,
For I know His hand will lead me safely to my home;
Earthly pleasures fade and vanish, I have joys above,
Since I felt His gentle touch of love. [Refrain]
