165. Tomorrow May Mean Good-by

1 We never know at the dawn of day,
Greeting the rising sun,
Whether the reaper shall call away,
Ere that days work is done.

Refrain:
Tomorrow may be good-by,
We never know when nor why,
God calls us away, when life seems so gay,
Our bodies in dust to lie;
Tomorrow our souls may sign,
For beauties we've let slip by,
O soul then prepare, sweet heaven to share,
Tomorrow may mean good-by.

2 We live each day on this earthly life,
As tho it ne'er would end
Forgetting God in our daily strife,
Grieving this precious friend. [Refrain]

3 God guides our footsteps each passing day,
Burdens He will relieve,
Promising freely sufficient grace,
If only we believe. [Refrain]
