151. A Welcome for the Children

1 Long ago when Christ our Saviour
Did upon this earth abide,
He did not forget the children,
But He called them to His side.

Refrain:
There's a welcome for the children,
In the Saviour's loving heart;
There's a welcome for the children,
In His love they have a part.

2 This dear Saviour still is living,
Tho' His form we cannot see;
Still His gentle voice is calling,
"Let the children come to me." [Refrain]

3 Come, ye children, come to Jesus;
He will hear you when you pray;
He will kindly guide your footsteps
In the shining upward way. [Refrain]

4 Little ones of ev'ry nation
Doth the blessed Lord invite,
Rich or poor, it does not matter,
All are precious in His sight. [Refrain]
