22. Evergreen Mountains

1 There's a home for the soul
In the "land far away,"
That no evil can ever invade;
And the Lamb is the light
Of its unending day,
And prevents any darkening shade.
'Tis a mansion prepared
By our Brother and Friend,
And for all who are faithful and true to the end,
He will lead us as upward our footsteps shall tend,
To the evergreen mountains of life.

2 There's a home for the soul
In the land "over there,"
Where no weariness ever can come;
Where the spirit is free
From all trouble and care,
Sweetly resting with Jesus, at home.
'Tis a glorious rest
For the servants of God,
In a land more delightful than mortals e'er trod,
Where they walk with the saints and the Savior abroad,
Thro' the evergreen mountains of life.

3 There's a home for the soul
In the "sweet by and by,"
Where is felt neither sorrow nor pain;
Where no tears ever fall,
Nor is heard any sigh,
But where pleasures eternally reign.
'Tis a land of delight
And of unmeasured bliss,
Full of soul-thrilling rapture that never shall cease,
Where forever flows onward the River of Peace,
From the evergreen mountains of life.
