He reigns! The Lord our Savior reigns!
Praise him in evangelic strains;
let all the earth in songs rejoice
and distant islands join their voice.

In robes of judgment, lo, he comes!
He shakes the earth, and cleaves the tombs;
before him burns devouring fire,
the mountains melt, the seas retire.

Deep are his counsels, long unknown;
his grace and truth support his throne;
rejoice, ye righteous, and record
the sacred honors of our Lord.
