17. The meek possess the earth's increase

The meek possess the earth's increase;
they are the heirs of heaven;
true riches, with abundant peace,
to humble souls are given.

Their lips abhor unworthy speech,
to slander or defraud,
their ready tongues declare to each
what they have learned of God.

The law and gospel of the Lord
shall be their guard and guide;
led by the Spirit and the word,
their footsteps will not slide.
