107. Behold, I Stand at the Door

1 Behold a Stranger standing
Outside a fast-barred door,
O hear Him gently knocking,
And saying yet once more:

Refrain:
“Behold, behold, I stand at the door and knock;
If any man hear my voice,
And open the door, I will come in.”

2 He waits, this kingly Stranger,
And knocks with pierced hands
The while He calls so sweetly,
And still so patient stands. [Refrain]

3 He suffered much, this stranger,
To save thy soul from sin,
Rise, throw the door wide open,
And let thy Saviour in. [Refrain]
