28. Even I May be Saved

1 I have wander’d so long midst the pleasures of earth
Spread around me in dazzling array;
But a still voice divine
Speaks to this heart of mine
Bidding me to turn back today.

Refrain:
And I may be saved, even I may be saved,
Oh, what mercy, Lord, how can it be?
Jesus suffered and died, on the Cross crucified,
Just to save a poor sinner like me.

2 Shall I list to that voice, shall I turn from the way,
That my footsteps have followed so long?
Still He tenderly calls,
“Come, oh, come unto me,”
“All ye weary” of sin and wrong. [Refrain]

3 Can it be that my life can be made pure and clean,
By the blood shed on Calvary’s tree?
But His promise is plain,
He will cleanse ev’ry stain
From the heart that accepts His plea. [Refrain]

4 Jesus, come to me now, take me just as I am,
All my sin, all my will I resign;
To be guided by Thee
Is sufficient for me,
Just to know that Thy love is mine. [Refrain]
