424. In These Days of Sin and Peril

1 In these days of sin and peril as the end of time draws near,
How important to be anchored in the Lord!
When so many deeply slumber all devoid of faith or fear,
O how blessed to be living by the Word!

Refrain:
By the Word, the gracious Word,
Blessed lamp of true salvation,
By the Word, the gracious Word,
May we ever keep its teachings in our view.

2 In these days of deep deception when the pow'rs of darkness strive,
To deceive the very elect with their charms,
Working signs and lying wonders, how important 'tis to live,
Leaning firmly on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]

3 O blest Saviour, ever keep me by Thy holy faith and true,
By the sweet and blessed counsel of Thy will,
Take us deeper, deeper daily into wisdom's treasures new,
And our hearts with all Thy blessed fullness fill. [Refrain]
