19. Blessings

1 Ask me not to count my blessings,
Tell them over one by one;
For they come in show’rs upon me,
As the raindrops ‘neath the sun.

Refrain:
Father, how thy precious blessings
Cheer me on my pilgrim way;
How they lighten ev’ry burden,
Brighten ev’ry passing day.

2 Multitudes of precious blessings
Ev’ry moment round me spread;
Blessings from my Heav’nly Father
Showered down upon my head. [Refrain]

3 If encircled by the gloom which—
For the moment hides the light,
I’m constrained to walk in darkness,
Jesus hidden from my sight. [Refrain]

4 Thy rich blessings past and present
Nerve my soul and stay my fears,
Till the darkness passes from me
And the blessed light appears. [Refrain]
