187. Not Unto Us

1 Not unto us shall be the praise;
Keep us, dear Lord, in all our ways;
Savior, uphold us, else we fall,
Dwell Thou within us, all in all!

Refrain:
Not unto us the praise shall be,
Glory and honor, Lord, to Thee!
Glory and praise, we humbly sing,
Blessing and might to Christ, our King.

2 Not unto us shall be the praise;
Savior, make fruitful all our days;
Fill with Thy Spirit hour by hour,
Spreading abroad Thy saving power. [Refrain]

3 Not unto us shall be the praise;
When in the gloom bright songs we raise;
Thou art the Light, that, shining clear,
Breaks thro’ the clouds of grief and fear. [Refrain]

4 Not unto us shall be the praise;
When on Thy beauty, Lord, we gaze;
Swelling the rapture ‘round the throne,
Glory and honor Thine alone. [Refrain]
