9572. Awake, Arise, Behold The Day

1 Awake, arise, behold the day,
The birthday of the Son of God!
Come, sinners, now no more delay,
But seek redemption in His blood.

2 Oh! what a condescending grace!
He left His Father’s throne above;
Came down to save the human race,
With bowels filled with endless love.

3 The heavenly angels, with the news,
Came to the shepherds for to tell:
This day is born among the Jews,
God’s Son, the Prince Immanuel.

4 Oh! how the shepherds did rejoice,
At the glad tidings of our king:
And straight they heard a joyful noise,
The choirs of heavenly angels sing;

5 All glory be to God on high,
Who pitied sinful men forlorn;
Peace be on earth, good will to men,
The Savior of the world is born.
