XXIII. Lord! when together here we meet

1 Lord! when together here we meet,
And taste thy heav'nly grace,
Thy smiles are so divinely sweet,
We're loth to leave the place.

2 Yet Father, since it is thy will
That we must part again,
O let thy special presence still
With every one remain.

3 Thus let us all in Christ be one,
Bound with the cords of love,
Till we, around thy glorious throne,
Shall joyfully meet above.

4 There sin and sorrow from each heart,
Shall then forever fly,
And not one thought that we should part,
Once intercept our joy.

5 There void of all distracting pains,
Our spirits ne'er shall tire;
But in seraphic, heav'nly strains,
Redeeming love admire.

6 And thus, through all eternity,
Upon the heav'nly shore,
The great, mysterious, One in Three,
Jehovah we'll adore.
