1 Hast thou trimm’d thy lamp, my brother,
Is it burning clear and bright?
Is it shining so that others,
May behold its steady light?

Refrain:
O be watchful, ever watchful,
For the Bridegroom draweth near;
And be sure thy lamp is burning,
When the summons thou shalt hear.

2 Is it shining in the darkness
Where the weary wand’rers roam?
Will its rays, their steps illuming,
Help to guide them safely home? [Refrain]

3 For the coming of the Bridegroom,
And the marriage feast prepare;
Let thy lamp be trimmed and burning
When He bids thee enter there. [Refrain]
