37. Bring the Children In

1 Ere the little children
Stray away from God,
In the ways of evil
In the path so broad,
Let some kind heart show them
How they may begin,
Living all for Jesus,
Bring the children in.

Refrain:
Help us, Lord, to bring them
To Thy shelt’ring fold,
Help us, Lord, to keep them
From the wolf and cold.
Help us save the children
From their every sin,
Help us, blessed Jesus,
Bring the children in.

2 While their hearts are tender,
Each one may be turn’d;
If they look to Jesus
They will not be spurned.
And if Death shall spare them
Life’s long web to spin,
They will shout the watchword.
Bring the children in. [Refrain]

3 God who saves the parents,
Wants the children too;
This has been His promise
All the ages through.
God would have the children
Sav’d from ev’ry sin;
Let us then work with Him.
Bring the children in. [Refrain]

4 When the children greet us
In the glory land,
With the holy angels
And the blood-wash’d band.
Then each child will love us
More than earthly kin,
As the shining angels
Bring the children in. [Refrain]
