93. The Coronation Day

1 Lift your hearts, redeem’d ones, tho’ the way be long,
Cheer the desert journey with a triumph song;
Wait your coronation, daily drawing near,
When the great Chief Shepherd shall in clouds appear.

Refrain:
Crowns of glory we shall wear,
Palms of victory we shall bear;
Sing the story all the way;
Time is bringing nearer that fair crowning day.

2 What are daily conflicts? what the toilsome way?
Looking ever forward to the crowning day;
When the strife is over and the vict’ry won,
Then the rest for ever, and the glad “Well done!” [Refrain]

3 Once with thorns they crown’d Him, in His day of shame—
Jesus our Redeemer, ever-glorious name;
Angels and archangels now before Him fall,
Christ is crown’d forever King and Lord of all. [Refrain]

4 When He comes to call us from the toil and strife,
When He gives the victors fadeless crowns of life,
Then the song triumphant thro’ unending days
Unto Him that loved us we shall gladly raise. [Refrain]
