110. We Are Going Through the Valley

1 We are going through the valley one by one,
With our faces t’ward the rising of the sun,
For until the Lord returns as He has said,
Mid the shadows, through the valley we must tread.

Refrain:
We are going through the valley,
Going through the valley,
Going t’ward the rising of the Sun;
We are going thro’ the valley,
Going thro’ the valley,
Going thro’ the valley, one by one.

2 We are going through the valley one by one,
As the labors of the toilsome day are done,
And the cares of earth are all forever past,
We may stand beside death’s emptied stream at last. [Refrain]

3 Through the valley long ago our Saviour trod,
And His presence now is with each child of God;
So we need not fear that we shall be alone,
For the Lord Himself will walk beside His own. [Refrain]

4 We are going through the valley one by one,
As our course is finished, and our race is run;
But the bright and blessed hope doth cheer our heart,
As with loved ones in the valley we must part. [Refrain]

5 Come Lord Jesus, yea come quickly we respond,
As from out the vale we see the light beyond;
Then with all His saints we’ll hail the rising Sun,
Now we pass into the glory one by one. [Refrain]
