Oh Dear.... I've found a mistake

You are here

I'm just doing my weekly hymn planning and I've found somewhere that someone has made a mistake...

Searching for "Blessed Be the Name" (https://hymnary.org/search?qu=blessed+be+the+name) someone has mistakingly set its Text authority to "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing". They do share a similar first line but they are actually different hymns. Not sure how to actually fix it though...

Edit:

It's actually happened in several instances. I'm afraid we might have to go through each instance of "O for a thousand" and check each one....

This is actually not a mistake. The verses were written by Charles Wesley, the refrain was written by Hudson. It was common in the past (especially at revival meetings) to tack on choruses to popular hymns. "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing" probably has several different choruses attached to it, but we do not make a separate authority record for each refrain. Otherwise we might have hundreds or thousands of records for a hymn. The chorus "Blessed be the name" has been attached to more than one hymn as well. They are tied together by the tune authority.
