arranging hymnals

You are here

When I arrange the order of the hymns in the list, they don't stay in place. First I tried moving them to the slots that matched the hymn numbers in the book. Second, I tried ordering them by name. I checked the list, and they were not in the same order I had saved them, so I re-did the list from the previously saved one, re-saved the new result and found it had happened again. I tried a third time with similar results. What am I doing wrong? Is there a preferred browser I should be using? Webpages here don't display properly in Firefox, but I make do with that preferred browser of mine. Suggestions?

PS. I'm even open to using a more compatible operating system (OS) as long as it's free. I'm still using Win98SE. KJ

Ken, my approach has been to download all the info as a cvs file, import it into an Excel spreadsheet, save it as an xls file, do the editing in the xls file, and then send it to staff for uploading. Trying to edit online seems too cumbersome, unless you are making only the simplest of changes. Peter

Same with the Training Hymnal...but where do I send it to? Thanks for the great advice. Working with spreadsheets definitely is the way to go. :)

Send the training hymnals to Tina Schneider.

Be aware that the spreadsheet downloads are incomplete at the moment. They work fine for DNAH hymnals, but they don't include scripture reference, topical index, or media information. There is risk of losing those things when a hymnal is uploaded, so the spreadsheet method should only be used for hymnals that don't have those elements, for now.

Arranging the hymnal is a bit tricky when you are dragging and moving. It is easy to mess them up in the process. I've found it easier when working online to type in the numbers from an alphabetical index and then save every 10-50 entries.

I will be doing it that way shortly. It took me a while to figure out that I had to click on Unlock to un-gray the hymn number boxes so I can edit them.

Ken,

I seem to have an old email address for you. Would you please send me an email so I can update it?
